This is what educated pigs do and it takes a lot of extra bait nights or a circle trap once they are trap wise
These rooted the pen sideways for 3 nights and then I dropped a t post in it.

I've heard many times pigs are smarter than dogs. Is there no way to suspend your bait, even put it in a pan or something to stop them doing that? It works for coons who like to reach in.

OR, put a big bowl of soured corn outside the trap so they get drunk and forget its a trap. LOL

Jamie there are a lot of guys who do exactly that. They ferment the corn and it keeps the deer out Blake (sometimes).

There is one old man down here who ended up using a scoop shovel w/o a handle for a pan- I am thinking about trying that and I could tension it that way so the gate would never release until 2 or 3 were fighting over the feed.

OK, I can try that..

Diesel doesn't work, deer will eat corn soaked in it...

They guys tell me seal up 4 gal of corn in a 5 gal bucket after adding a 2 liter bottle of Big Red and let it ferment in the sun. I guess it eventually gets to nasty for the deer.

I like snaring em but there are too many cows with newborn calves on the quarter section.

We had a sounder of 2 sows and 11 pigs. It took almost 6 weeks before the entire sounder entered the trap. We’d have the pigs and no sows or half the pigs and one sow. They ate good for almost 6 solid weeks on peanuts and corn, lol. Just recently had a small group of pigs and caught al of those in just a couple of weeks. Small traps likes what pictures won’t work down here. Our pigs are way to educated.
