Recently got permission to trap one of the most beautiful pieces of property in the County. And on top of that, the landowner is one of the most unique men I’ve ever met. Never had a landowner “get involved” with trapping either. He followed me around the first day while setting and told me he’d check traps for me in the mornings and I could reset after work (he was only in town for 3 days.) I was fine with that because one of my sons friends works for him on the place. Their first morning “they” caught a coon and possum. My sons friend said he was ecstatic. Yesterday morning was a bust and the landowner had to leave early to head back home. I took the day off today because my 5 year old had a Valentines party at school. I figured I’d sleep in a little and check traps about 8ish. He started texting at 0645 wanting to know what we caught, lol! “We” ended up with another coon, possum, and a big Ole Tom! When I sent the pics and text, he immediately called and asked if he could PLEASE have the cat and if so what Taxidermist he wanted it taken to. Said he wants one more cat and two coyotes if I didn’t mind. I hope this turns into a long lasting trapping relationship!!

Be careful what you wish for. And why would you say that?

Good job of building the relationship too. Let them have fun with it too. I take a few of my landowners along, we have a blast. One told me once of all the guys that have stopped over the years to ask for permission to hunt or fish on their place, I was the only one that ever asked if they wanted to go along too. They used to tap a little when they were younger and really enjoyed getting out again. I learned from them, they had fun, it's a long time relationship now been since early 90s on most of my farms. Good job!!!
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Good job!!! That’s what the manager told me yesterday. He said, I don’t know what y’all talked about, but you’ll be trapping here for life. He said, You earned his trust in just two days. There are some people he’s known for years that he won’t let on here. I really feel lucky trapping this place.

Very nice!!! I long for the day I find a bobcat in my trap. Just set every set for a coyote and they’ll clog them up, lol. Set where thick cover meets more open areas and they’re there.
