Longs sure are easier to set than stout-springed coils, in my opinion. As I get older I can still set the coils but I can see benefits of switching to longs as I get older.

Added 2 5/8's Paws-I-trip dogs and 3/16×1/4 laminations to a dozen Sleepy Creek 4 1/2's. I think they turned out great.

Do longs seem inherently "weak" compared to their coilspring cousins? How can one tell if they're weak, or if they're performing like they should be?

I wondered that as well Mike. I done some checking with Nancy and she couldn’t find any info on it. If they did they done a fine job. Awesome little trap.
