For coon bait. It smells bad and looks like it has hair in it and we couldn't catch fish on it so I was wanting to give it a try, but I also don't want to use something that won't work.

I have wondered about catfish bait as well, or a slight garlic smell. Maybe someone more knowledgeable will chime in!

Just use dry cat food coated with molasses.

The only way to find out is to try it ! But I would not try it unless you can buy more , lol if you can no longer get the stuff it will work better than anything you’ve ever tried.

If your putting that in a dirt hole for coon, you might want to stake for a coyote .

Make 2 DP sets and 2 dirt hole sets with this material along a trail or place you know coon will visit in the next week. Since this is mating time, those sets probably WON’T work. But you will have satisfied your curiosity. This time of year gland lure works MUCH better than baits.

Use baits when they’ll work baits. This time of year is not one of them.

By all means put bait in the DP’s, the gland will only get them there . Still need something in the trap for them to eat !

Never used that catfish bait for coons but I did catch a few small channel cats on it like most stink baits catch.

A16, why are you trapping coons this time of year? There will be little to no fur value to them especially as far south as you are. Just for population control or damage control?

I'm trying to help the turkey and quail population out and they are not as hard for me to catch so it gives me a better chance to catch something that day. So far I've caught 30 off my 1 mile stretch if road I trap in two years. Ik I'm probably not doing much to help but I figure it will give any turkey or quail a better chance to hatch it's eggs

Well I baited up one set with it I know it don't sound like much but it did have coon tracks all around when I set it up so we shall see.

No I haven't baited anymore sets but something has been eating it and I found some poop with hair in it on the bank so I made a Dirthole and had nothing more than a 1.5 coilspring with me so I set it and put some of it in the hole tomorrow I will be switching the trap but if I catch it tonight if should hold. I do feel pretty confident in this set as the turd is literally less than 2 feet from the set.
