This will definitely be interesting, Thanks for posting this.
Keep your boots dry and your powder too.
I remember when a fur check was reality.....now I'm just trapping for the love of it.
Best Regards,

New York had the same studies around 10 years ago.
I submitted around 200 to 300 carcasses of female rats over the course of 3 years.
Findings indicated an average of 13 young per year per capita (determined via placental scar count).
Initial production of young was NOT declining, but recruitment of yoy to adult size age was NOT occurring.
To my knowledge, we were never informed what was definitively causing the mortality of yoy muskrat.
Certainly, no one cause was determined.

The river I'm on has Herons, Otter and Eagles, things you didn't see when the Muskrat population was good. Also a lot more Mink than years past.
The Bass population has also dropped to the point it's catch and release now. I don't know the answer but steps need to be taken. What river Hipster ?

It's hawks and owls. Back In the day we could legally shoot them and DDT took It's toll.
The biggest factor Is lack of habitat. We use to have 100s of small marshes around here know they are gone.

Are they still using the water is too clean theory?
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.
