Heads up, just found out the Anchorage Assembly is having a meeting tonight about "Trails closed to trapping", tonight Feb. 25 at the Loussac Library from 5pm-11pm.

They will take public comment and then vote on which trails they are going to close. It's the resolution # AR 2020-36.

My Super Wide will pull your broken down 4 stroke, up a hill backwards, with you on it!

This issue received a large amount of input starting about a year ago.

The Assembly ignored advice from the State, Feds, and their own lawyer that they are out of line.

This is a railroad job.

I'm done with it, I won't grease the skids and be their caboose.

you can vote your way into socialism, but you will have to shoot your way out.

The Assembly's choice of words about this is not the best. They aren't taking comments on closing trails to trapping. Last April the Assembly approved trapping buffers on trails within the municipality that prohibits trapping within 50 yards of trails and one-quarter mile from trailheads, campgrounds and permanent dwellings. They were in such a hurry to pass this ordinance that they didn't have a list of trails within the municipality. So now, almost a year later they have come up with the official list of trails within the municipality that will have the trapping buffers. I don't really know why they are taking comments at all since they should of had these trails listed last year when the ordinance was first proposed.

I can tell you where it goes. And then you start a whole new process. I have been at it for 30 years.
If iwasn't for a fantastic, knowledgable Board of Game the last nearly 20 years, and a lacadasical, over-worked local/municipal police force, we would have almost zero trapping, here.

Should be the other way around. Closed to hikers during certain times of the year.
