An awful lot of the skunks we've been catching have had a bare spot on the back of their neck.

Probably some rough activity at the under deck "no tell motel". I'm surprised I never noticed it before.

I caught one yesterday looked like Freddy Krueger! Half the hair on his head was gone.

I got one yesterday that looked fine, not a lot of movement yet.

Ya'll didn't say, but were the baldy's female? Are the males the same way?

Figured the ones with hair were the males. The back of the neck was where the male grabbed onto the female, but maybe not.

Females stay in the den, the males do the rounds. The males get rubbed crawling in and out of burrow after burrow, and fighting each other. The females are almost always silky and unrubbed.
