Wish my first season looked like that! Lots of work, get yourself a fleshing beam and put it all up next year, no harder then skinning them.

Fantastic all the way around! You had a great first year. Good on you for taking the kids with, it's about twice as much work but it's the best kind of work there is. Keep it up!

Thank you everyone, especially Muskrat and the other Trapper Ed volunteer teachers! I learn a few other important things. 1) single spring 330 still hurts a lot 2) the triangle blade first cut knives aren't for skinning the point goes right thru a rubber glove to your finger bone 3)freezer is never big enough 4)either gloves or waders leak every time so your going to be wet and cold either way.

It was cool to see how big and fluffy the rats get during the winter.

WELCOME! You did fantastic for your first year. Guys trap for years and never catch an otter. Your syrup looks great... Looks just like Grade A.... Nice light color.

Thanks to Muskrat for his tutelage and bringing you into the fold. This is really what this site is about!

Sorry for all the pics at once, just going through my phone on a slow afternoon here.

I noticed that when you are really looking for sign and patterns in nature you "see" a lot more of your surroundings.

I don't think the mouse made it.

Nice job! Have fun and enjoy those kiddo's. You're obviously learning and teaching new skills, congrats!

Keep your boots dry and your powder too.

I remember when a fur check was reality.....now I'm just trapping for the love of it.

Best Regards,

JT

Thank you for sharing. Trapping has been an addiction for most of us and it looks like you are one of the new victims LOL.

I am happy to see you sharing you new passion with your gorgeous family. Those kids will never forget those types of memories
