Ya, things are getting crazy. i got a buddy that works at Ekati diamond mine in the NWT who flew in who flew in, worked 2 days and was told they were sending everyone but a skeleton crew home. It seems they are shutting the mine for at least the next 4 months.

Ya my youngest daughter is a paramedic and works at a mine up near faro and she was sent home two days ago, under strict quarantine as a guy up there was shoeing symptoms. I think all mines are closing...BC isn't helping either. They are on the same trajectory as Italy they say, and they are not shutting things down like they should be...

NOBODY is on the same trajectory as Italy. Because a) Italy has the oldest average population in the world and b)they aren't bothering to treat people who are past their cutoff (70 I think, but couldn't swear to it) age.
If you quit listening to all the media hype and actually look at the numbers it still isn't that bad. Even in Italy the percentage of fatalities when you factor in age and preexisting conditions isn't much worse than most flus. I agree with you 100%. Doctors in Vancouver are the ones saying BC is on Italy's trajectory. Food for thought, in an average year 22,000 people in Italy alone die from the common flu. I have questioned the numbers from day one.

My son works at the gold mine. All who have to fly in are laid off.All others can go home with full pay if they choose. They have the option of remaining at work and for every month they work they will get an extra month pay bonus for the duration of the corona debaucle. My son was one of the few that chose to remain and work. He will have less a chance to contract anything there than he would at home.

He just told me that instead of 2 weeks in and 2 weeks out, which is his normal schedule, the ones that stayed working will be 2 weeks in and one out to cover for those that went home.Time and a half for all the Overtime. No union at that mine either.
