Couple of days depending on how strong you made it. I’ve always went half and half with water, but it’s been years since I did it.
Everything the left touches it destroys

Not sure about paint. For rust, I use 50/50 mix, never needing more than 24 hours.
Just doing what I want now.

I’m soaking some long springs in vinegar to get the paint off. I’ve done it before with coils but forgot about them and after a month or more the springs were shot. So how long can I leave long springs in before sacrificing strength? One more time The vinegar did not ruin your springs. It is just not powerful enough to do that. Its only 5 to 7% vinegar from the bottle. Some folks use it on a salad. The springs must have been weak before you soaked them. I've used vinegar for years and have forgotten about then in a soak several times. Never used vinegar to remove paint though. I can't believe it would even work for that. just

And yes it works for paint, again, I have done it before. Thanks for the helpful tips related to the post though.

Years ago I put some footholds into a bucket of vinegar and forgot about them for about 2-3 weeks. They were clean, but the springs got really weak. Had to replace the springs and haven’t washed my traps again since.
Now, once the season is over I either leave the traps in a big tangled mess on the garage floor or in a tangled mess in a tote in the garage. I don’t plan on ever washing them again! And I expect to catch fox on the 2nd day of the season this year!

100 % Correct !!!! I have always used muriatic acid because vinegar takes way to long and does a crappy job. 5 minutes in the muriatic and they are as clean as they will get. And in a closed pail it lasts for years. Never tried it on paint but I will now just to see. If vinegar was that strong it would kill anyone who ate it. Where do I get miriatic acid gman? Thanks! -Randy-

Absolutely Vinegar is strong enough to weaken springs. Dissolves cable too!
