According to the CDC the flu killed 61K last year. Almost double that of most all years previous. Now I believe they consider that "Flu Related" deaths.

They (Doctors who are keeping track) are still anticipating 1.5 million infected by Easter. And they are still at a 20% hospitalization rate of that. Meaning not nearly enough beds in the U.S. for 20% at 1.5 million.

Most of the country is still 8 weeks out from Peak (suspected, of course).

Like CGilliam states....Meet back here in a month and see where we are at. I sure hope the doctors are wrong.

The govt isn't spear heading this thing. It's the medical profession. If some of you want to be mad at someone at least be mad at the right entity. But go ahead and rip on them for trying to save your butts.

Minnesota Department of Health

This whole thing is horse apples. We should be protecting those most vulnerable and the rest of us proceed with appropriate caution.

Where is the end game?

I'm with you, Mike. This could have been handled differently. 10 million have filed for unemployment in the US. It shouldn't be this way.

Then the plan is to delay the inevitable? Given the death rate, aside from the 50% you cited in a village, it seems that humanity could move forward without all of this social economic strife. Our efforts should be in protecting those most vulnerable. The rest of us go about our normal daily lives. Work sounds a lot better to me than welfare.

If we keep growing at this same rate, the United States cases will be over 900,000 headed towards 1 million next Thursday night with nearly 20,000 dead United States.

Again, horse apples. The fear mongering is out of control to the point society is shutting down. Everyone is bombarded with unfounded information built off of models that aren’t even real data.

Dude...You live in one of the most remote locations on the planet. I live amongst 3.4 million people. Seriously???? I also have a friend who lives in in SE Alaska (Kenny Lake). He's taking a few precautions but not hard to do up there.

Yes, all are models, but many of these models are real data (best the medical field can come up with at this point, anyhow).

I don't get where people are not connecting the dots here. This isn't a govt thing....it's a medical field thing.

Listen...don/t tune into any political news cast. Only listen to those in the field (and in the covid wards) who are actually dealing with and/or studying it. Medcram, Duc C Vuong and a whole bunch of other docs and researchers do almost daily updates...and nothing political about their opinions. It would be nice for some of the nay sayers on here to actually do a little real research. I was a naysayer...I did some research. My opinion changed as sometimes does with some actual knowledge.

Arkansas has lost 12 to Chinese virus thus far. A bit over 700 confirmed cases. Unfortunately we have lost 11 more to flu, bringing season total to 116 dead.
Calvin where do health care workers get there information and guidelines, the CDC?
