I have mixed feelings about the stimulus, but to some degree, if the government is going to tell businesses they need to close their doors, the government bears some responsibility for those individual's finances during that time. The particulars are what I'm not so sure about. I have mixed feelings also and I absolutely see your point but, the government doesn't have any money to spend on this without taking it from you and me. They can print money but that just de-values the money we already have - the same as taking it from you and me. There is no money unless we, the working people, produce something of value. There is no way the government can give money away without taking it away first. It's just a shell game and our elected representatives don't even know it. I saw a tweet from Thomas Massie , the Congressman that didn't like the stimulus , he said it was to make the rich , richer and The poor , poorer and the $1200 was the cheese on the mouse trap. My grandfather said that if you collected all of the money and evenly distributed it to everyone on a Friday, it would be back in the same pockets by Monday morning.

If business are back to work in May and start calling their employees back if the employee refuses to go back unemployment would be cut off. I do agree that $600 on top of their unemployment is ridiculous . It should have been equivalent to a 40 hr work week check that a person would make. Agreed to a point, what if a 40hr work week is substantially higher then the extra $600 on top of unemployment though? They weren’t about to start taking it case by case I don’t think.

No kidding I replied to a post on this same thing earlier this week. I'm working and am considered an essential employee (Security Lead and FAC certified). There's less than 20 of us working total to cover the 3 departments that are supposed to be there 24/7 and about 110 laid off. If I was laid off I'd get a little over $400 on unemployment plus the $600 for a little over $1000 a week. I make about $400 less than that by working. I'm making less than a laid off dishwasher right now.
Of course my company is broke so from what I understand the ones working right now will not get anything for being there. I told my boss these businesses will be lucky if the workers don't picket outside with signs that say keep it closed.
The governor said non essential businesses will be closed through April so they get 6 weeks off and a very high paid vacation. I'm very po'd about this. Nothing about this is right. I've told my boss every day I don't want to be there. I don't agree with the stimulus either, But, I should not matter what others do, make, or get. just go to work like you did every other day. apparently it was good enough before the virus. I can't go back to work until they call me back . I'm a part time custodian and was told the school has been closed the rest of the year , plus was also told that school may not start till September and we start in August.

The US Govt has been in debt since March 4, 1789. It just keeps growing with no intentions of every getting out of debt, or even slowing the spending. The US Govt has nobody to answer to, kinda like the deep state running the Govt right now. Plenty of unlawful activities taking place, but nobody is going to stop it. Eventually a bucket full of $$$$$$ won't buy you a loaf of bread.
The total NET WORTH of all combined millionnaires and billionaires in this country is approx. 1.5 trillion. People don't realize how much money a trillion $ is. And we're spending 4-6 trillion in one year.

Diggerman, this stimulus is a slap in the face of the people who are working yet. My tax dollars go to pay for it. If they want to even it out anyone who is working and doesn't get an unemployment check doesn't pay federal income tax on their wages from April 1st - December 31st. The bonus to the unemployment check should be an extra $25 or $50 bucks max not $600. There will be less than 5 people there that make more than what their unemployment with the bonus is. It's that way in the majority of the country and it was set up that way. Anyone who is working yet and doesn't have an issue with it probably doesn't pay in on taxes anyway. So they're being subsidized by us already. Here's the other thing I also work a part time job along with the full time one. The part time one ended March 23rd because of covid and I have no idea when it will start again. I'm taking a hit on this.

Its an incentive to make people stay home and conform.
Same reason essential workers dont get anything-incentive to keep them working.
Not hard to manipulate people with money.

Spend it on trapping supplies and ammo or other useful stuff-you might need it.
OR-to a good solid charity.Last place to send it would be to gov't-it gets eat up with the beurocracy.

My wife made a grocery run yesterday. Total $507.00 holy (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman). Pre covid the same shopping trip would have been in the $250,00 range I haven't seen a difference in prices here. The smaller grocery store in town still has the sales every week in the store. Pork ribeyes were $2.00 last week. Butt portion on Easter ham is $1.09. Idaho must be very expensive or the store get away with gouging.

At least Pelosi's daughter that sits on the board at the kennedy center got 25m. This is what you should be watching too. seems the Pelosi family has ties in everything along with all the other Hogs up in congress and senate! Its nice Nancy wants her rat daughter to be richer at the expense of a few morsels to us civilians.
