I just acquired some Bridger 3 and NW 3 dog on traps.

The brass bolts/nuts are different sizes and I was going to just "standardize" everything to 1 size bolt for adjustments. I am planning to use a SS machine screw with locknut. Good/bad idea?? What size machine screw?? I've read "#10" but not sure if that is correct.

Someone needs to come out with an easy conversation to a Monty dogless pan. LOL.

#10 is a good size.If it doesn't fit,drill out the hole with a 3/16" bit.

Thank you. 3/16" bit sounds easier to find than #14 drill bit.

Make sure that you use enough spacers between the pan posts and the pan shank so when you tighten down your bolt you get even pressure against the pan shank. That will give you a smoother pan drop.

I like that idea, what do you use for spacers?

10x24 brass, available at Lowes in small amounts or MTP by the dozen. X2 with the brass washers. #14 bit.. While your at it grind or file the pan shank so its a flat surface. That will maintain the tension throughout the pan drop. Stainless works well also.

Common sense catches alot of fur..

I have found the #14 a little tight and now use the 3/16"

I went on Ebay and got a batch of brass washers.I agree with Beav. You want consistent contact on the pan shank, all the way around that screw. If it contacts more on one spot you will get inconsistent pressure as the pan moves.

The better suppliers usually have #10,brass screw kits that include screw, nut and one washer.Measure what you have and order.I have used both brass and SS.

This should be done for sure. You have the pan loose already, I swipe both sides of the shank over the bolt hole with a file and remove the burr and flatten this area. Makes a very smooth setup on the pan!

I recently ordered nuts and washers online from the Boltdepot. The prices were the cheapest I could find and I didn't have to leave the house.
