Got a coyote on camera yesterday and one in the trap this morning. A young male on a Pipe Dream set. Caught this coyote in a set I put across from another Pipe Dream set where I caught two previous coyotes.
Hoping for a little more success in the next couple of weeks. Went from 75% dirt holes and 25% Pipes to 75% pipes to 25% dirt holes. Dirt holes just aren’t producing during the warmer months.

Hard to beat the pipes, I only use them during fur season, but they are really tough to beat for the freeze, thaw, rain, that our Iowa winters have turned into. I’d imagine they have to be great for rainy spring Georgia weather as well.

Yeah, they don’t tend to fill up with mud after our rains. We can’t get .5” a shower. We end up getting 1-3” every storm it seems. Calling for that amount again with this storm coming in tomorrow evening. It’s not my sets getting washed out it’s the ants and then mud clogging my dirt holes.
Anyone know where I can get screen? Used to get it from Kegs Creek, but apparently they quit selling the black and don’t recommend what they do have for 550’s.

Honestly I just buy roll screen from hardware stores and cut my own pan covers out. Im a cheapskate so it works well for me.

Just your standard fiberglass screen is what I use.

i feel for ya,i had 2 pregnate beaver to get the last week.they both died but neither made it easy for sure.was a real eye opener as it isn't a time i'm used to being after them.

Well, they just updated our weather we’re supposed to be getting...3-5” of rain now with damaging winds and tornadoes. Maybe a few sets will make it through the storm.

The heavy rains we were getting back to back were killing me earlier in the season. It sucks trying to catch your first coyote and bobcat when you are a novice then adding pouring rain ruining your sets all the time. Something I did discover though was my first catches were made after a night of heavy rain. So apparently some of my sets held up ok and the critters still move in the rain.

We good, lol. Only reason I’d ever want snow is to be able to see tracks, other than that, y’all can keep it.

I would take snow over rain or drought. Cold and frozen ground is easier to work with than mud or blow sand.

i honestly bet i would be more out of my element there than youd be here but till all the snakes there are gone we'll never know.

Haha. We have a road on the plantation named Covey Circle, the manager is seriously considering changing the name to Cottonmouth Way. We’ve killed 6 off it this week. Snake boots are definitely your friend here. I’d have to buy cold weather gear to do what y’all guys do. Although it would be nice not breaking out in a sweat setting traps!!
