I had to cut down a couple of ash trees. Does anyone have a fair idea what these might be worth? I know they would be worth more split but I donít even own a splitting maul. I would say the pile measures over 8 ft long and 5 1/2 ft high with cut lengths around 14-18 in.

$65.00 bucks near any good sized city.

$45.00 worth of wood in any rural area.

IMO.

Would be worth more if they were cut a consistent length

around here only what your labor is worth to some one for having you split and stack it for them. there is so much ash coming down most people want to give it away free for the hauling.

had a guy down the street form me knock on my door the other day , he has an ash that needs to come down , did I want the wood. sure I guess I could use a little more load it on trailer drive it one block split and put it on my pile

in the form it is in , where I live you would be lucky to get 10 dollars Everyone is giving it away cut in inconsistent lengths of about 14-18 if you split and delivered it 50

very much a supply demand cost of labor for your area.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

When I was burning wood, ash was my favorite wood to burn. It split easily and even partially green it would burn. It also burns longer then most wood, leaves little ash, and is easy to get started burning. The smoke has a nice aroma.

Lotta brown people trying to get into a country that's supposedly systemically racist.

For one pile of wood that's not split, in late April, just be glad if someone will come take it so you don't have to clean it up.

This is what I was thinking. Put a free sign on it and hope you dont have to help someone load it up.

While ash is easier to cut and split it's one of my least preferred firewoods. Dosent seem to have the BTUs of oak or maple. I rate ash as better than gum or hackberry. About on par with elm and cherry. Hickory is slightly better but I'd never burn hickory in anything other than a bbq pit.

Heck, if you drop it, it splits. A simple axe is all that is required to split Ash. I split 2 cords of ash this year and bought another cord of Oak/hickory/maple. You hardly work up a sweat splitting ash. I use a Fiskers splitting axe, and it is a real pleasure when I get a load of ash.

If I saw that on the Metro Craigslist, I'd expect to see $100. And, this time of year, I'd expect it to stay there for a good long time.

I don't know what if might bring in your area, but, it is worth something. Maybe consider a trade for something you could use. Splitting maul, maybe.

If these oil prices stay where they're at until next winter, I'm thinking selling firewood gonna not be so good...

I don't care how easy ash splits, its a whole lot easier to just turn the thermostat up and probably end up being cheaper.

Ash splits easy and makes good kindling wood. Also good to get a fire hot quick. Not the BTUs or burn time of hardwoods,,but a very nice wood to mix in with the others.

If the country doesn't get back to work by fall people might have to burn more wood.
