Been trapping the ground squirrels in my yard. I'm freezing them whole and going to throw one down the dirtholes for coyote bait. Do they make decent bait ? Or should they be tainted slightly and ground?

They work great as is (whole or cubed), fresh/frozen or slightly tainted. Have had good luck with them and pocket gophers.

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

I have a gallon jug I'm filling with packrat, mice and ground squirrel. These guys are roasting in the Az heat. I'm going to use it in September and October for trail cameras and scouting. Might be some rotten mess, but I bet it gets a sniff!

I used them this last fall with very poor results, I used them fresh in dirt holes, 30 sets with only one coyote, coyotes would come up to a few feet of hole then leave. I changed to the regular bait I use and started catching coyotes again. If they were tainted maybe they would of worked better. maybe they will work in other areas

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll taint them slightly.

I tried them fresh frozen several years ago and like super cub had very poor results.

I rotted down a 2 gal. bucket of the 13 liners one year and tried them in dirt holes and at flat sets...poor results. Then tried them the following season but added some fresh urine and created a paste....worked much better.
