I bought some used 120s and they are dipped in that nasty sticky stuff. Is there an easy way to remove it so I can dye the traps with a none sticky coating? And if not, would using the traps for a winter trying to wear it off, would this sticky stuff stick to marten fur and cause issues?

I got some like that from a friend. I used them water trapping & after 1 season they didn't seem bad. I don't know which brand he used, but I wouldn't use it. They were black. I know he used a brand that required mixing in some gasoline.
