Over 60k participated which is nearly double the dove year and it was all online. Lots of effort to make sure folks didnt play games so I rather they take the time to verify than rush out bad information.

I heard the same thing about almost 70k results. Last year was like 11k. I wonder what happened to create such a turnout.

Outside of fishing, there was a hot question for the big interests. Bow and gun deer hunters had multiple questions. Bear was on there. Trapping had some.

The CC tried to engage users online more than ever. Tons of interviews on traditional media. They even ran some ads on Facebook to capture some more folks.

The stay at home order likely helped as well as more folks didn't forget. I have some other thoughts but I will save them for another day. What are your thoughts?

I think the crossbow and deer hunting questions helped turnout. Hopefully that means a majority of the respondents were at least some sort of consumptive users. They should put hot questions like that on there every year.

I don't have a problem with Non-consumptive users having a say. In fact I think they should.

How about the Non-consumptive users that have a vested interest in management issues, such as land owners? They have more at stake than someone who just "consumes" resources, whether hunting or trapping.

Consumptive users will vote for their own self interests and not whats best for the resource. Bigger deer herds are good for the consumptive user but bad for the resource as an example.

Only down side I see with non-consumptive users is one who votes with no interest in the health of the resource but a political or non resource based ideology. Such as an animal rights ideology.

There are non consumptive users and then there are the other non consumptive users the last ones are the ones who show up to vote away your rights.

With more replies in one year then the last 5-6 or more combined we know now this method will not go by the wayside soon. To me however if it takes two weeks to sort out what some feel are bogus (that may well be needed) but to me this adds a whole aspect of moving even more away from a democratic process. We don't even know if this will be done by form(s) or by resolution question. It may well be good for those that create the who are the bad guys to let us all know what those criteria are. Another shroud of secrecy to deal with, maybe well needed with the new method but really is far, far different than what we have been familiar with and thus some transition time for rethinking and accepting will occur.

1 thought I have regarding the trend toward online voting is whether it will be more challenging to fill seats on each counties Conservation Congress.

I'm still kinda bummed over last year. We had an anti get on our county committee. They tried for years to get on, always bringing what some called their 'possee' to try to get them elected. Last year, sportsmen largely stayed home to vote online, whereas the group showed up & got the anti elected.

I was reading in the WON that results would be done by the 27th if not then the 28th or the 29th. Evidently there is more need for gate keeping than was planned on.

Maybe they'll set up a site like the IRS where you can input your customer number and see when results will be available.

I was wondering if anyone was looking at the trapping citizen resolutions on there and how they felt about them. I thought you said beaver was overdone. Now it looks like they are thinking about extending even farther?

Does anyone know what is going on with the WCC? I see that all the advisory committee's meetings have been cancelled, and not rescheduled. Also no general statement from the WCC about all the cancellations, nothing about what's going on with the resolutions, and nothing about when they plan to resume operations.

Because most landowners don't respond to these, but animal rights activists, who also have a vested interest in this will and will corrupt the system, which is their intent.
