Got a call about a weasel that's been seen frequently going into a stone foundation. Home owner is worried about chewing. I told them it was likely eating the chewers and it would probably be best to try and get things closed up and keep all the critters out.

My questions are is it to early for babies? What's the likely hood that it's got some kind of den in there? I'll probably set some rodent traps and cage traps, I assume the weasel probably won't go in the rodent traps if they aren't baited with meat?

If you're serious about finding out if it's a lactating female, footholds are out. Use a squirrel sized cage baited with fish flavored cat food. If she's a mother, you can let her out unharmed. We've caught quite a few weasels in homes and they're not that hard to catch!

If she's lactating I assume it's easy to tell like on a squirrel or raccoon? If she is how long before I can go back and remove her?

Weasels are the best thing to have around to kill mice.

That's what I told um but they want it gone. Guess they would rather have rodents but I'd rather have the weasel!
