Anyone ever try it? My property has plenty of them and was wondering if it can be done. Last one I cleaned had a 5/8 flank so not sure if that would brake down and rot. Would love to here some guys with experience on this.

Stick to commercial tanning for that. All that has to be thinned down to at least an 1/8" ,otherwise salt, pickling and tanning chemicals can't penetrate properly. There is also the problem of degreasing without losing the hide. This is a job for a professional.

Moyle did a feral hog, boar , hide for us and it turned out great. They do thin it down pretty good.

Was it hair on? What did it run cost wise?

$130, hair on and they did shave down the shield area. It was a 180 lb boar. Can't post pics right now but I can in a week or so when my new computer gets here.
I would set up an online account with Moyle, our last hide sent in was back in 2 months, mt lion hide tanned with head and feet on it. Checked in online and it sped up the whole process.
