THE 2020 NTA NATIONAL CONVENTION IN KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN, HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

This spring has been a time of uncertainty for our nation. People’s health, their jobs, and their lives in general have had no sense of security.

Over the past two months the Executive Council of the National Trappers Association (NTA) has watched, one by one, as trapping gatherings across the nation have either been cancelled or rescheduled. We have gathered as much information as possible and have considered our options. At all times, first and foremost, the safety and well-being of our patrons and members has been top priority.

On May 5th, the Executive Council met via conference call. After considering the ever-changing requirements of the state of Michigan and the ongoing recommendations of the CDC on social distancing, the decision was unanimously made to not hold the 2020 National Convention in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

We are saddened not to have the opportunity to rendezvous this summer with our trapping brothers and sisters from across the country.

During this time, being adaptable and not losing sight of the greater vision is more important than ever. The NTA fully intends to continue moving forward with all trapping business across the nation. We will keep everyone updated as plans progress for Board Meetings and other NTA business.

The NTA needs the continued support and membership of every trapper in North America.

The 2021 National Convention will be held in Spencer, Iowa.

Maybe but they were about to hit a window where they were going to loose deposits on the grounds and probably other things if they waited to cancel since it doesn't look like Michigan will be open for business by business time

I would like to hold it in spite of MI's tyrannical governor. Stand on our first amendment right to peaceably assemble. Tell her to arrest everybody. Have a few thousand jury trials. Get in the national news. Talk about benefits to wildlife and humans that are gained with regulated trapping. Talk about how "green" fur is and humane harvests with foot traps. If we don't go we are squandering an opportunity we will never have again.

I would rejoin the NTA if that happens. The organization would regain my respect.

2021 NTA National will be July 22-24th at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Spencer, Iowa. Spencer is in the NW corner of the state just south of Iowa's Great Lakes!!
