I'm adding bolts to a dozen 110s for BE mink sets. Cut the rivet out of one, looks like a 1/4" bolt would fit. I'm thinking I'll use 6 or 8" all thread machine bolts, with two nuts to tighten without hampering the trap action.

Have any of you all done a similar setup? Any recommendations on length? Most of my banks are going to be sand and clay, some muck. Do you use washers as well?

Thanks!

Those look pretty slick, thanks. Roots are more of a problem here than rocks. Do you find those stabilize well enough on they're own or do you still stake through the spring?

They stabilize fine on their own. I shove them in the place i want to set then put a t handle stake through the ring on the chain. It's a real quick way to set.

Awesome, I'm ordering a dozen up, thanks for the tip. If it gives me trouble I'll run a few with bolts for tough spots.

And traprjohn, I didn't think of nylock nuts, definitely the way to go for bolt setup.

Don't be afraid to use your fence plyers or bolt cutters on those Berkshires to get to were you need to be for your conditions. Gary

If I was making those for a BE I would use a larger trap, 159 size.

I have some with all thread, gutter spikes and Berkshires. On the Berkshires I cut one prong shorter, just enough to keep trap from spinning and still use a rock or stick on/through the spring. I find I end up using the spiked traps last because I like the compactness of carrying unmodified in my vest pockets.

Most of my stops only get 1-5 sets, mostly 2. I can carry that amount of spiked bodygrippers in my hand. But, when Im on a walkabout, I hate carrying things in my hand- the backpack gets throwed on. It can be a weight/size/comfort issue with me when doing a good amount of walking, which I find I do more with these depressed prices. They do save a bit of time, which at this point in my life I am not concerned about. We do live in a somewhat rocky area and by the time I find the right soil for the spike I wonder if I saved much time?
