I finally bit the bullet and bought some one hand setters for my MB750s. I always had to unhook them from the drowner wire and reset them on the bank since I can not set them over my knee. I reset today with the one hand setters without having to unhook from the wire. They worked perfectly, and Dave shipped very quickly. They are an awesome tool, and they fit my #3 Bridgers too!

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question (probably is).Does a set work on all #3's (coil) or are they more trap specific? Added another spring to #3 Victors and have to set them on ground stepping on the spring (and having them sink into the ground or me fallin!).

He makes different sets for different trap models; some work for more than one type of trap. Contact Dave and let him know which traps you have and he will be able to tell you the answer. I wish I would have bought mine when I first heard about them years ago.

I got a set for the MBs, Bridger #5 and #4 Victor jumps. The #4 jumps are very hard to set, not with Dave's setters. I called him after i received mine and thanked him, terrific craftsmanship with high quality materials.

I am not sure they would work for all # 3's.I doubt it but Dave would know for sure which models fit what.I one model that works on both MB550's and 650's and my other one is for MB750's.I am not sure if it fits anything else.

Another aspect that isn't mentioned often,if you have work to do inside the trap jaws, you can lock the setters in place and have both hands free to work.I like to knock the sharp edges off some traps and these are perfect to hold the jaws open while I file or grind both outside and inside edges.

I have also had times when an animal's lower leg was right against a lever and that lever was kind of stuck. There was no room to get my hand or definitely not my foot on the lever but could squeeze Dave's setters in there and get the job done, easily.I hate when I forget to put them in the truck.I have my two sets labeled and color coded so I don't grab the wrong one.

Don't leave home without 'em!

I own the 550/650 setters, rarely use them to set but they sure come in handy releasing dogs, especially 650s. Their also handy to work on traps, just latch the safety it holds open.

Always in my truck during fur season..

When trapping with mb750 traps, my one hand setters hang around my neck. They are great for every set, and especially in any challenging situation like Taximan described.

I have a set in the garage for trap tuning and as a backup in case I lose the first pair. They are great for smoothing edges and testing pan tension. At my request, Dave specifically made a setter for mb550 that holds the trap longer when tripped so I can do all pan tension adjusting within the setters. He made the same setup for me for mb750 traps too. Slick!

When setting a huge amount of mb550s I use the one hand setters because my wrists and shoulders are in terrible shape from injuries. In the cold weather the setters really prevent some extra aches and pains.

Like Taximan, I too label mine. Although in a pinch, a 550 setter will set a 750.

I use them nearly year round. I cannot say enough good about these setters!
