Is Rustoleum required or any flat oil based paint sufficient?

I just cleaned some traps and was going to dip them in the rustoleum/acetone mix and rustoleum is $30+/gal and acetone is around $15/gal here

Did not see any rustoleum in smaller cans

I only have about 6 traps to dip right now

Thanks

Six traps - I would spray paint them if I was going to paint.

I agree. I would just spray paint them since it’s just 6.

Some use rusty metal primer, some use paint. I always use rusty metal primer. It works well for me, and it’s available in a spray can.

If you spray paint- take your time
Don't try to do all in one shot. Take a break, let dry, then hit other unpainted areas. Then touch up when you think you finished.

One thing to make it cheaper.
I watch the local hardware store for miss-mixed metal guard or whatever the store brand metal anti-rust paint is. Here it is normally 40 bucks a gallon but when they make mistakes I can buy it for 10 bucks a gallon. Then I mix it with cheap mineral spirits at about 7 bucks a gallon.
Make a good cheap long lasting dip.

You should be able to get a quart size can of paint and acetone if you are only doing a few. Be sure to buy a empty can with a lid and you can use it till it's gone.

I use krylon camo colors . I have some traps that are on 3 years with a couple coats of that spray paint followed by a dip in full metal jacket.
