Is there something that can be used to thin lanolin?
Is so what, how? Want to use as a base. I'm looking for the consistency
of grease for good smear effect.
Thanks in advance

No. Use mineral oil.

Or you could get it to go on a diet.

Not if they're both oil base. I don't know that lanolin is oil base, because I've never worked with it, but if it's from the oil from sheep wool, it probably is.

Interesting Paul, even more interesting is this is not something you utilize, must be something better out there?

It has gotten cost prohibitive to use it in any great volume. Use to be very economical in years past. Yes there are other materials that can be used.

Super lube synthetic grease is a bit over a buck an ounce and I like the consistency it yields

Go to a pharmacy and speak with a real pharmacist. The older the better so you don’t run into a bunny hugger. They’re all chemists at heart. Ask her/him this question And see what they say.

I've used carbowax with success. The good thing about it is that's its water soluble also so it will mix with all ingredients.

that is an ingredient from years past, carbowax. Used it many years back as a stabilizer and bonding agent in some deer scent I made.
