With my flooding, I'm sorting traps and finally got around to my Duke 5 double long springs. What I noticed is that the edges on the springs have a terrible burr. Does anyone take that off as part of the tuning process (not so much for performance as for not cutting a finger in the field)?

I'd take it off before you need another tetanus shot.

I don't like sharp burrs on any trap.Give it a few licks with a good file and then a quick pass with an emory, flap wheel in a Dremel tool. The flap wheel may be all you need.

I bought some from our local feed mill some years ago with the same problem. So sharp you wouldn't run your hand along them for fear your get a metal sliver. This is the first I've heard somebody else having this problem.

Glad I'm not the only one.
