I am looking into get some more beaver footholds and I have narrowed it down between these two. I have some TS85s, but I want some that I can target the front foot with. I am open to suggestions though.

It all depends on what you like. I personally don't like the trigger system on the 650s or 750s. Both are good traps but if I had to choose it would be the bridger 5 but I have had no problems with front foot catches with the ts-85

I have had more flipped off traps with the bridger 5. I own both and prefer the 750. Always seems like the 750 has the critter in it when I get there.

Get the pan tension up to 4-5 lbs and that will pretty much be eliminated. Even for otter. Until then I had a problem with muskrats on them too. I run the 750s the same tension.

I haven't found a #5 coil or longspring I didn't thing was a worthy beaver trap. I would add a #3 Bridger 4 coil to that as well and it is my preference on shallow water sets. Grips as high as a 5 but not as long. I have a dozen of the Bridger #5s and the same of 750s. I feel either is a sure bet so pic based on your preference of:
1) USA made/or not
2) Dogless/or not
3) the price point.

From a few guys that have used them the KO beaver trap is worth a look too. A few have sold there other traps and gone to the KOs. I've done well with front foot food sets with The MB650s also.

All of my mb 650’s are off set , is this not an issue on a front foot catch ?

I've actually thought about getting some Bridger #3s or Duke #4s to try.

All my footholds for beaver are mb750’s, and I really like them. I set the pan tension around four pounds and have had great success. I’ve never tried a bridger #5. Never had a reason to change from MB’s

I guess that opens up the new duke 650 as an option as well, I have always thought that you should steer away from offsets for beaver.

I really don't see the need for that big of a trap If your going to target a front foot. Any well built # 3 would be my choice.

A front foot on a beaver Is pretty weak the more weight on that leg Is In my opinion going to cause some problems. Especially if you don't get the beaver drowned right away.
I would stay away from offset jaws when targeting beaver.

Like it was said before, with the Bridger five you need to crank up the pan tension. I had many flipped or set off traps and was really tempted to dump them as the old victor 4 jumps were connecting. Crank that pan tension up

Started with a mix of Bridger #5 CS and MB-750's. The 750's for me have my preference but no problems with the #5. Started using #4 jumps where theft is possible. Need to figure out how to improve pan tension on the jumps. My knuckles got warmed up from one last year.

I put a Miles trigger on mind and bent the dog up a little to increase tension even more. You can also get pit pans but that will cost you.The Miles trigger worked well.

For me the 750s are hard to set by hand with there shorter levers and really beefy springs and I just prefer not to carry setters with me everywhere. So the bridgers have been holding up just fine, just remember to check your pan tension after each catch.

The mb750 with laminated jaws is a dream for beaver trapping, They are easy to bed solidly to eliminate all movement. I set for a front foot catch. Get a set of one hand setters to make life easier and safer.

No experience with the other trap you asked about.

I just got some more bridger #5 coil springs in. Cant wait to try them. I like the bridger #5 dls too. They hold very good before season going to laminate them. I looked at the 750. But went with bridgers.
