I just bought a dozen sabortooths. What are you folks using for chain?

I use number 3 American made at 12 foot. I also have a mb crunch proof swivel in middle of drag chain.

A lot of variables as far as terrain goes but must people will tell you 10' of number 2 or 3 chain and an aggressive drag like a Sabertooth they won't get far. Many people like to preset the drag too.

Prefer straight link chain instead of the twisted (double loop) type because it takes up less room to bury. I think anything over 8' of chain is probably overkill unless you are in wide open prairie.

Since I pre-hook on saplings or logs along logging rd edges, 6 feet is plenty for me. Plus when you get a climber like a coon or bobcat, they are a nightmare to dispatch 10 feet up there. And a 1 lb mini drag is perfect.

Honestly,if I were going to pre-hook,I wouldn't.I would use a quick link and save the drag for where it might be needed.
