Does anyone know these pan tensions out of the box?

Not exactly on the MB550...but when I set my 3# hammer on the pan, about the time I go to release the hammer, it fires. Every single MB I have does, 450’s & 550’s.
Only traps I have are MB’s so no help with the Bridgers.

All of the MB550s I have come out of the box with close to or exceeding 5lbs on my gauge. I had to file the dogs on all of them. I believe Mr. June said they added beefier coils to the more recent traps that have raised the pan tension. As Wanna Be said I can’t say for the Bridgers.

It depends, outta the box the 4 coiled 550s seem to run at least a half pound heavier then the 2 coiled ones. I would guess the tension on the 2 coiled ones is 2.5 +/- LBS.

The Bridgers have a pan tension screw to adjust it, The best way to adjust MB 550s is to bend the dog slightly and while your at tighten the dog eye and polish the dog with a wire brush. The 4 coil 550s I bought last year were over 3... a masonry hammer with a rubber handle weighs 2 pounds 3 oz. For me that's the base line for multi species.

Not to get off topic... but what is your purpose of polishing the rod dogs on the 550's?

Takes any burs and sharp edges off thus it smooths the pan drop. I also shorten the notch to 1/16th for less pan creep. Like a trigger on a fine rifle.

Ok, that definitely makes sense. I was just curious what your reasoning was.
