If you kneel on a guys neck like that you have no business training others and why the 8 minute wait, for what to happen? Confusing My thoughts line up the same. I see this as a systemic training issue. Even worse when the bad or poorly trained are then also training the new guys. Departments should really takr a look at thr San Diego PD. Huge city with tons of young single men with tons of cash, trained to fight. But yet we don't see these police issues down there. SDPD has ine of the highest rated departments in the US and it shows.

I’m one of the biggest supporters of LEOs you will ever find the guy was cuffed nobody is taught to kneel on a neck like that we are told to avoid it unless it’s a call for lethal force the old sleeper hold is not allowed even.
A lot of other options to hold down Floyd could of been used, if the struggle was so great then why did the Officer have his hands in his pockets?

Calvin I agree that if a person does the job you do odds are there will be bogus complaints filed. No doubt about it. My question for you is are there officers in big cities that go their entire career without any complaints? Steven....I could find you a whole list of people that union would not defend in the past...and I'm quite sure they won't defend Chauvin in this case. That said, it is a unions job to defend it's members to a point. To a point. I should say I shouldn't have singled out the MPD and used the term government unions. I can only speak from my experiences at the union company I've worked for the last 20 years but I don't personally know of anyone who got let go and got their job back because of the union. I suppose it could have happened without my knowing as we've grown so much in the last several years and I don't know the majority of the people like I used to. In your line of work politics can play a major role and officers jobs need to have protections. I don't envy your job one bit, we've had these conversations in the past. I wouldn't have made a very good officer, I'd have used my nightstick too much. Stay safe out their brother, the mayor of Minenapolis and our fair governor have failed you guys.

Law Dog: You are reacting to what you believe rather than thinking about what I wrote. Reacting to what I seen and my training it could of been done better, how you can think kneeling on a neck for that long is OK makes no sense to me. If you kneel on that artery for 8 minutes the outcome is clear.

Raise your hand if you have 17 misconducts at your job and still have it. Charges of misconduct are not misconducts they are charges. Seems to me there is a lot of catering to blm and the looters going on right now. This may get really out of control very soon.

Watch the video, and pay attention to how Chauvin attempted to move Floyd onto the gurny when the ambulance arrived. Chauvin's total disregard for the handling of Floyd, is very telling in my opinion. The best thing to come out of this case is that Chauvin won't ever be a training officer again, and be taking down young recruits with him.

If I were a cop and someone spit on me, with hepatitis so common, it would be tempting to beat there teeth out with a ball peen hammer. No I dont think that should be allowed but it would be tempting.
Im trying to figure out how a knee in somebody's neck while waiting for an ambulance seemed like a good idea. if the guy started spitting I dont see how it would have been a problem to make him kiss that tire. I doubt that would be called criminal to stop a spitter.

Raise your hand if you have 17 misconducts at your job and still have it. In my business you are only as good as your last claim or the last policy holder's feed back after you have completed their claim.
As far as 17 bad ones, they better be spread out over 10 years or more LOL
