Southern Snares bought them out. Southern Snares is making them in Hortense, GA, from what I understand.

I looked up Hortense. He’s waay down there. That must have been a great undertaking to move all the equipment from West Virginia down there, get it set up and start turning out traps. I for one plan on buying some just because of the effort he made to keep an American trap company going.

I have 1 of the Nitro's. Very nice heavy duty trap. I have put a couple coyotes in it without any problems.

I have to say the Sleepy Creek 1.75 coil, regular jaw, round pan is the best
"affordable option" I've found for a multi species trap.

Cut off the swing set chain, weld a 9/16 heavy duty split ring washer on the base strap, install quality American made #3 chain, and J.C. Conner
rod swivels.

Install a Bob Custer heavy duty Top Dog, or weld a nail on the stock dog to beef it up...Then bend up, or bubble weld the jaw tips.

Still much cheaper than a MB, and plenty tough, plus you can easily adjust pan tension....One last thing, the S.C. 1.75 is really a #2 coil.

Congrats Brian McKee...Long live S.C.!

I am a big fan of their DLS line. The No 3's do need the bases plated and the jaws bubble welded but once you do that, you big pan guys will see where it is at. Exposed trap walk thru cat trap supreme!

Why does everyone praise a trap and price, then talk about everything that needs to be done to it before setting it in the dirt? If it’s a great trap and price why would it need anything done to it?
When I see that, I mark it off the list of traps to get.

That was just my version of a perfect S.C. 1.75 for my purposes....Hoping someone might see that, and see the possibilities for their own situation

The stock S.C. 1.75 works fine too.

What trap is it that you speak of, that doesn't need anything done to it?
