Yep , about right. It does make wax stick a bit better too.

LOL...done it EVERY way..EVEN tried it on the top of water(GAG!!) Been using the rosin/canning wax for 30 years now..NOT problem one.... tried the toilet bowl rings(beezwax) mixed in one year... cost me a TON...had to redo traps..throw away 25lbs of NEW wax... The rosin/canning wax combo works as well as trapping wax and is considerably cheeper. Get the temps right..and the traps come out PERFECT.. lynx

I tried rosin once. It won't happen again what a mess. you don't need it. What type of rosen did you try Heavy? PM me your address and I will send you some of what I use. You can see what you think and if you don't want to use it you can toss it.

I agree with TLChic on this one. I also use "wild rosin", and have never used the processed, commercial types, so I don't know about them.
Using wild rosin adds a sheen to the wet traps are they are taken from the waxing pot. As the sheen lessens, the rosin is being used-up, so add some more, usually not as much as you started with.
You may also loose the sheen after adding fresh wax to you pot, and this may require adding some more rosin.
I do not believe that the smell of wild rosin hurts your traps. In fact, in areas of heavy pine growth, it may give you a slight edge.
As with so many other things related to trapping, it probably relates to personal likes & dislikes.
