This doesnt read very well to me, I'm a little slow at times lol is it 9 inch foothold? 6 inch + foothold with inside spread? I called our local game cop to see if I could get an explanation with no answer yet. Can anyone else help decipher this? I ask because I ordered 2 dozen duke 650s and just trying to stay legal. If the jaw spread is greater than 6 inches it needs to be offset at least 3/16 of an inch unless it’s a drowner. Just buy offset jaws and you’ll be fine.

A trap with a jaw spread of greater than 9 inches is not legal, period.

That's how I was reading it too. Another trapper I talked to this morning here in Oregon was telling me otherwise. I just wanted a 2nd opinion, thanks rc.

The wording on the drowning portion is a little funky but I don’t know how else it could be interpreted.

They don’t know the regulations. If it’s greater than 6 inches they need to be a drowner or offset. Number 3 or larger need offset jaws. If nothing over 6 inches was legal why would they have the first piece about nothing over 9 inches.

I agree, just wanted to double check..and you're right they dont know the regs but they enforce them. I got checked twice last season. Not for trap size but for trap tags and my license.

I agree with Rockcrick , size 3 and bigger traps with a jaw spread it also does not specifically say inside or outside over 6 inch needs a 3/16 offset.
