I have a few two-piece rods, never had to break them down. I have been buying one-piece rods for the longest time now... one exception, fly rods!
Let's go Brandon!

I didn't know one piece was a fad. That explains why I accidentally bought two in March. I don't have a pick up, so I am not a real outdoorsmen like you people who have roads.

what about wet flies sprung and rusty? There only thing I use high end sensitive rods is for jigging and when I need to feel the bottom, weeds, or light bites. Casting lures I use crankbait rods which are moderate backbone and I don't need the sensitivity. I have some 60 dollar 2 piece rods I like in some situations more than my gloomis IMX one piece rods and visa versa.

4Me California Stripers wow that was a lifetime ago for me. I had a 13'6" Lamiglas rod and a Penn Squidded. Also had and still have a Roddy Rod, Buddha Head Special 11'. Had to cut it down to bring it to Alaska in my 1969 Super Van, LOL.
That Roddy Rod doesn't do me much good on Greyling though.
In the 60's I sold wholesale bait and tackle to bait shops up and down the California Coast. Ended up with a pile of Fenwicks and other rods.

if you transport them in your boat , it doesn't matter what the length is.
all poles in boat, cooler in boat pull up remove straps , add for and aft lines and bumpers and back in . done
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Given the choice, I prefer 1 piece rods. I just do, but it’s not so much that I wouldn’t buy a 2-piece if it was the only available option for a certain length/action. If length were a problem for most days going fishing, I could see the point, but I’ve never had issues with traveling with a 1 piece rod, even when in a car. We put the bottom end at the passenger’s feet, and angled them to behind the drivers seat, or from back to front in the center when in a SUV. The one time that I brought a rod on an airline, I brought my 2 piece because it was the rod I wanted to bring anyway. When I purchased it, I could only get it as a 2piece.
One thing I’ve noticed is that with a 2 piece, it has to be straightened from time to time or pushed back in. I’ve had the 2nd end come off when casting a time of two also. Didn’t really bother me but it happened. If I were fighting a 15-20 lb redfish, I’d prefer the 1 piece even if it only meant peace of mind

Hippie, you have a point. But the difference is slight, and "backbone arch" would only relate to strength (susceptibility to breaking), not sensitivity.
No one is likely to convince me that sensitivity is more important to a spinning rod than to a fly rod. I've done a lot of both kinds of fishing. (And yes, Bernie B, I began fishing in the '60s.)
Nothing in spin fishing needs the sensitivity of a fly rod to catch the tiny twitch of a trout taking a little nymph in flowing water.

All I know is a two piece rod would fit in the trunk. Now I have two in the way in the car. I'm sure it don't matter to the fish.

I only buy one piece rods. The cheaper two piece rods don’t hold up as well. Also buy a reel with a decent drag. I usually have to spend around $100 minimum for a small-mid sized reel for a decent drag that’s smooth and won’t burn up on a fast fish

I don't know if the company still exists but I used to buy my blancs from the North western rod company then do the rest myself. I still have a few boxes of rings floating around here somewhere in a workbench and a few miles of thread.

A lof of anglers that still fish or jig on bottom for pickerel like a rod that can detect the very light bite, and feel the fish pick up the bait, give the fish slack, then raise the line slowly and feel the fish so they can set the hook at the right time. Some like a one piece rod for that since the angler can feel the fish better and also can set the hook with authority. I use a 2 piece rod, sometimes a telescopic rod,but I get enough for supper.
