I use one of those old smaller meat grinders that clamp on the table. I only grind up about a gallon of bait a year. This year I ground up a little over a 1/2 gallon(after grinding) of coyote glands for myself. For making venison sausage though my uncle has one of those same older type hand grinders with a bigger neck and throat and rigged it up with a pulley wheel instead of a handle and run it off a 1/3 hp. elec. motor with a v-belt and the whole thing is mounted on a piece of counter top. If I get into grinding more bait and lure I'll rig up one similar.

I use the manual meat grinder. Really like ADC's set up. Ground up 14 gallons a couple weeks ago. This one works good, but will wear you out if grinding alot.

cool

Should have seen the grinder we used on the fur farm, lol. You could grind whole cow heads in it. You could toss in a 400 pound heifer head first and it'd spit it out the other end no problem,I bet it'd take care of them beaver for ya,lol.

I use a hand operated for my bait/lre bases. Hoping to upgrade in the future though. I chunk my bobcat and beaver right now, may start grinding it later. I grind my mouse bait base with the hand grinder.

I bought a small coffee grinder for grinding castors(I'm not really intersted in making any other lure). I sharpened the blades with a dremel to save it some tough work, and make it last longer. Sharpened, I can grind about 4 oz of partialy dry castor into a very fine paste in just a few seconds. The blades need not be sharp for coffee beans..but it helps a lot with castors.

I've seen comments on here about folks havig poor luck with this process...but it sure works for me. An investment in the neighborhood of 10 or 12 dollars that's already paid me back tenfold in product, and labor.

I have a few electric grinders, but I'm not home now to take pics. I have a 22, a 32 and one bigger.

I don't have a three phase 220 volt grinder that will grind a cow whole, but I do ok with what I have - lol.

Jayme, That is a nice looking set up. Did you buy it that way, or did you rig the pulley up on a hand grinder?

I'll bet that pulley is added Johnathan. I have one and have added the pulley also. It is easy to do.

Thanks. That is not a bad price. I have pulleys and motors. I'll have to dig out one of my old hand crank grinders to see if I can hang a pulley on it. I have rigged similar things up converting from manual to electric drive. Recall tells me that I had to synchronize and pair pulley diameters with belt length and motor rpm so when I cranked the thing on it didn't turn into a flying machine.

I remember making a fan once at the farm. I used a discarded radiator fan from a semi, and like a dope, without thinking beyond my invention's potential, I locked it directly onto the shaft of a 1-HP motor - no cage around the blades either. Proud as could be, I set it on top of a large wooden crate a little over three feet off the ground. When I turned that thing on, it took off like a wounded helicopter. Luckily, it "flew" away from me, or I probably would have been beheaded. It flew about 20 ft. before crashing. Had to go to therapy before I could be eligible for test pilot training. Just had to tell that story on myself.

After surviving that, I rigged it up with pulleys. That thing really threw the wind, big time.
