My cousin Scotty Hammond was the superintendent or princeable of Kake schools and built a house there, and divorced his wife also. Seen lots of pixs of the area.

I didn't know they had any closed season in Kake. Working on the ferry, we would always see spotlights on the logging road system when cruising by. You can buy deer from Angoon delivered by ferry, all the subsistence halibut you want also. No enforcement offers no deterrent. Its always "for the elders" Go look around Juneau in a few weeks, I guarantee you will find plenty of rotten herring eggs in garbage bags dumped in the ditches. Found over a hundred pounds dumped in the Fred Meyer parking lot once. They don't need to poach to fill a freezer in the village.
I was horrified going to the dump in Hoonah and seeing all the game in the pit. The bears weren't even that interested in it.

Good grief, the tribal leader of Kake America is still at it. Whining about freezers running low on deer meat. It’s nearly July and you should be nearly out of red meat and be on to fish now. Deer season starts August first.

So, it started out with the problem being empty shelves at the local store, (back in April), but shelves are re-plentished. But he decided that the village doesn't like beef, pork, or poultry, so wants more venison, instead, even though they had a 6 month federal season, completely un-interrupted?
Ridiculous.

It’s nothing more than preferential cherry-picking. I love how it was worded basically that eating moose and venison would give them an advantage facing and fighting the effects of the Yellow Flu.
