For those of you where it would be legal for at least beaver,,,, If there was a 7.5" sized coilspring trap with cast jaws toothed like a #14 jump trap, priced comparable to current production beaver sized coilsprings.... would you be interested in using them?

Personally I'd buy a dozen of them just for the cool factor whether or not I used them but they are legal for use here underwater, so I'd for sure use them some. grin

I'd buy one just to hang up in my room because we can't use toothed traps here in arkansas

We use to weld fence staples In our bigger coil springs. You did not want to get caught In one.

If economical, here in KS for water set, we have to have at least 7" spread (which I think is stupid).

I’ve always thought a toothed trap was overkill. Literally. But then I saw some flat faced (the “teeth” were squared and flat as opposed to being pointed) Sleepy Creeks that we’re being used for wolf research. The dealer selling them said these flat teeth did an excellent job of keeping the foot from sliding. Now, when Beav talks about welding fence staples onto the jaws, it gets me thinking about welding the staples so the curved end is the business end rather than the points. In today’s world, one has to consider who will see the traps

After nearly 4 decades of live market coyote and fox trapping i have learned that a sliding foot is what causes unacceptable foot cutting. I have not used traps with teeth but did keep strong spring on the traps. Offset jawed traps were not used for live market traps due to more foot movement.
