Here is a home made driver for those of you like to tinker save money cost 6$ apiece cold round stock 1/2 or 5/8 can used with out turning down the end first. Use a angle grinder to make the slot .[Linked Image]

Then once that end is finished take 4 flat washers put on other end and weld in place .
Drove over 100 wolf fang stakes with one last year.

Ken,
It looks pretty sturdy. I am not much of a tinkering type. If I can ever figure out how to break one of Tom Stalker's I might have to become a tinkerer.

Just make sure the slot In your driver Isn't to tight. Those anchors tend to get deformed when they are being driven In and when that happens they tend to become hung up In the driver slot and come out of the ground when you pull the driver.

Sweet driver for the money. May try one. I have one of Tom's drivers --actually two different ones. First one has a handle on it. You better beable to drive up to your set ,it is heavy. I may tinker since at times I could ditch a driver on a distance site for sets up on the mt. Tough hike with a heavy packbasket that is full going uphill. And I do not want to leave a $30 driver in the woods.

Nice driver! Now just paint it some bright color. I had to paint all of my set making tools orange or pink so I could find them after making a set. Amazing how a driver or other tool can disapear in corn stubble or grass after you set it down.
Thanks for sharing the tool tip, sir!

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Nice driver Red.It is worth carrying a small file in the truck or tool bag to touch up the driver end and to knock burrs off the anchor.I also like to go over them all in the off season. At this time,I also straighten any bent anchor heads.I wire wheel any rust off the heads and shoot them with some good, gray primer. It sure is nice to start the season, not having to sort through anchors to find one that works.
