I've been looking to buy a dozen bauer setups to make drowning rods but everywhere has been out of stock for months. Does anyone know if they're still being made, or available anywhere? Thanks

Look up bearscents.com showed in stock. But I dont know. It wouldn't be hard to make them. If u cant find any before season. I will try to make a few . Wouldn't be hard just take some time.

Anneal some nuts for stops, make your own lock out of round or square stock, put two swivels together with J hooks (your anchor). Thread everything on your rebar and pound the nuts home.

You can do this at home with things laying around very cheaply.

Thanks, I like the idea of being able to take the Bauer system on/ off if I decide to change my rod length after trying things out.... Looks like I'll just borrow a welder and get it done that way. Thanks

Let me know if u get some. I looked them over wouldn't be hard to make. 2 nuts bolts 1 large washer. 2 piece of steel pipe 5 inchs long . Get a size up from your rebar. Take pipe drill hole on one end . Weld nut over hole. Put the bolt in. Other end of the pipe weld big washer on . For the bottom piece take pipe and drill a hole in middle. Weld nut on over hole. Put bolt in. Put on rebar.

I tried to put in the cart at bearscents and it won't let me. I'm sure they're out of stock there as well. I'll give it another month or so to see if the suppliers get restocked, then will probably just weld some up, I like the look of 9 gauge loop at the top and nut for a bottom stop.

This Is my set up on smooth rod but you can do the same on re bar.

If you want to hide your coon In culverts this Is the system to use. Just use about 4' of rod. Run the rod Into the culvert and use one stake out side. The coon gets caught and runs back into the culvert. You get very little chewing In this situation since the coon Is more at ease. Don't trap any small culverts because Its just about impossible to pull the coon out.

Found another source for removable drowning rod hardware - traprjohn on here makes and sells this setup for 3/8 or 1/2" rod/rebar. Very similar to the Bauer system. I'm picking up a dozen to run this fall on 1/2" rebar. Looks like it will work pretty slick!

How does the lock get past the splice?

smooth rod uses a simpler pc of angle iron for the slide lock
you're seeing the deep water end of 1 rod and bank washer and lock of 2nd rod.
