Bout time to dip some beaver footholds. What is everyone’s preferred storage container for left over Speed Dip? Will a five gallon bucket and lid work? I don’t want the gas to melt the container and I end up with a mess.

If you used Coleman fuel or white gas - put it back in those cans. Pour it thru a sock to filter out anything that may have fell off the traps or whatever. If you used gas station gas, start over with Coleman fuel

Metal bucket only w/lid. Plastic is ok for short term mix and dip but the fuel you use to mix it will eventually work on the container and begin to seep. All plastics are NOT the same so use metal to save the potential headache.......... the mike

I’ve had my speed dip in the same plastic bucket for 6-7 years. Mixed with gas station gas. Not had any problems. It usually sets outside year round. Just shake it up every year and good to go.

Like I said , "All plastics are NOT the same". There are different resins that are mixed with the base to make some resistant to to hydrocarbon, ozone and/or uV decay . They are color coded for industry recognition. The ones that are used as oil, hydraulic fluid, gas tanks, hazardous material etc., are of more complex (tighter) resin material than ,,,, say,,, the ones that contain Dry Wall compound. Have had two plastic ones leak through when I started using dip in the 90's so I asked a few Chem reps and engineers and took their advice. I always "try to use the safest material for storage of something that is as flammable as the petroleum dips" so its metal for me...... the mike

I kept it just fine for over 12 years in a plastic bucket too. Probably still have it if I hadn't spilled it. I keep gas in plastic cans too.

Get yourself a gamma seal lid on the bucket too. They work great.

This is how I do it. I got the headache, a few years back! Lol

Coleman can . I use a cement mixing tray from home depot fits 330 and everything in between. When done dip goes right back into the Coleman white gas can. It’s stored in a shed in the yard here in the north east.
