I called in a bobcat this year turkey hunting. I sure did not expect that. 'Pretty sure it was the 1st bobcat I have ever seen in the wild. It was kinda cool, I guess. Less freaky than the bear I called in a few days before that frown. I have called in a number of incidentals over the years while turkey hunting, but rarely a turkey. Maybe my calling sounds more like a wounded turkey.

Yes it it. How they get around with making a noise. I like watching them. A person can learn alot about them just watching them. Arkansas passed it u can shoot bobcats and coyotes during spring Turkey season. It's to help the turkey , deer , and quail populations. I will shoot a coyote but not a bobcat.

I've only called in coyotes and one young fox, (plus lots of turkeys), while turkey hunting, but a buddy was hunting solo once and had a mountain lion jump within 3 feet and then take off. I'd need to clean my overalls after that.

That's a very cool sighting.

I've called close to a dozen bears in over the years of spring gobbler hunting. It's interesting to watch them in full stalk mode. I've seen them slowly put a foot down and then move it a few inches before putting all their weight on it. I assume there was a twig that could have snapped and made noise. Some have gotten quite close.

I only ever called in one bobcat that I know of. It came in to about thirty yards. I didn't dare move but I think it sensed something was wrong. It dropped down into a spring creek and walked away. So much for cats not liking water...

As it was walking away I gave a barely audible cluck on my box call. I saw it's ears rotate backwards so I know it heard me. But, other than that, it ignored me and kept walking.

I've been stalked by numerous coyote.

I get my share of longbeards so I don't think I sound like a wounded hen. LOL

Eh...wot?

Maybe I'll have to try making a turkey sound when my Bobcat season starts 12/26

That’s what I would try! Maybe set out some turkey decoys too…and hope the DNR doesn’t show up unless you’ve got a turkey tag in your pocket!

I saw a bobcat while making firewood once…I’ve been trying to call one in with a chainsaw ever since!

A big pile of chain saw chips and sawdust is easy bedding.

The cut off end is bright and the log may be aromatic. Cypress here.

I called in one a few years back, it would not leave! I had gobblers out in front, but it came sneaking in to my calling. I waved at it to scare it but it sat and looked. Then I threw a stick at it and it moved off a bit but not far. I started to stand and it ran off. I waited a few and went back to calling. Soon I hear steps behind me and he’s sneaking in again! This time I moved right at him and he finally ran off and stayed away. It was a cool experience though. [Linked Image]
