I have a raised bed garden and my early crop of lettuce was getting bitter, so I commenced to pulling it to re-plant. Well, I got it all pulled out and sowed some new seed. While I was working it in with my fingers, my hand pushed through the topsoil and I felt something warm. Lo and behold, there was a nest. I'm thinking mice or chipmunk? Anyway, I worked around it and laid a board over the nest to protect it during watering. Yesterday, I watered and a tiny rabbit bailed out of the nest. Well, then I had to supply a ramp so the critter could get back to the nest. Today, apparently, it found its way back and through my binoculars, I see at least two sets of ears. I know the mother of these critters chewed my first planting of beans down to the ground, but I just don't have the heart to take it out on the kids. I'm getting soft in my old age, I guess.

I see I'm not only one to use trapping stakes for sides of raised bed!!! They were handy, and with fur prices being what they are, this seems a better fit.

I'm always a softy for babies, even of species I loathe (except snakes!). Although, when they're an adult, keep an eye on your 6!

I showed it to our German Shepherd, she just looked at me like, what do you want me to do with that? She's too old and decrepit to chase them too. LOL

It's natural. Few love and nurture nature more than hunters, trappers and fisherman. We know what it's about unlike some wannabe treehugger.
