Man , I hope you guys have a great time. You don't need the fancy high dollar crap. Just bring enough to layer up depending on temps . A decent pair of boots , even work boots with about 400 grams of thinsulate . Mink oil them up. Some cheap gloves for cold mornings .
Take lots of pictures

I second antigov. Neighbor shot a moose in his undies last year...be it lucky to have one right out the back door. Cousin has about 2k into his gear and has only taken 2 elk in 10 years..he swears by his copper cloth.

No special clothing as far as camo etc.. Layer clothing of our choice to stay warm, dry and comfortable temperature for you is all you really need. I hunt them in jeans and what ever outwear I grab that day.

You can wear jeans and flannel and get the job done. It just depends on how comfortable you want to be while you're doing it. Some outdoor clothing is overpriced, some is not. S&P is correct, Rockslide is a good resource. I would do your research and then start looking around for a good deal. https://www.sierra.com is a good place to start. ol'dad

I don't hunt with sticks and stones but I'm a natural gear camo fan for hunting coyotes they make a variety to choose from that I feel is worth taking a look at.
I'm sure your aware of this already but there's a few grizzly bears in that area from time to time so be mindful and have a great time ! Take a bunch of pictures ! Allan

Be prepared for anything. Last year on my Colorado elk hunt we got 2 1/2 feet of snow which made it difficult. We weren't as prepared as we should have been and it cost us a couple days of hunting.
I had a cheap set of redhead raingear that worked well for keeping my legs dry trudging through the thigh deep snow. I had to duct tape the bottom of the pants to my boots to keep out the snow but other than that I was good.

I wear the same stuff I wear trapping. Bank on wool if it's going to be nasty weather wise. I just laugh at all the dummies in kuiu, first lite type stuff. Most of those guys are worse than women when it comes to fashion needs. Those guys nicknames are "showcase". Lol

I'm a polypropylene long john under wrangler jeans and a wool shirt and the last layer is natural gear winter camo when hunting coyotes . Deer and elk hunting in deep snow or wet conditions I get out the wool pants and coat .
I also believe in layers during the fall winter and spring .

I live close to where your talking about, maybe even in the area
In early Oct it can be blazing hot, but you can also expect snow at any time. The end of Oct it will more than likely be cold.
I prefer wool but it can be heavy.

An actual quote from rokslide: Puffy function question
"So in thinking through my system, I have a stone glacier grumman jacket. Its a little big on me... I'm normally a medium but went with large. I keep going back and forth on keeping the large or going for a medium. Keeping the large makes sense if I wear it over a base layer, mid layer fleece, and maybe my peleton 240. However, I hate baggy jackets and wonder if a medium just makes more sense. So for those who run a puffy, or are you running more of a fitted puffy or baggy to wear over layers? I hope that makes sense....
Thanks for the feedback." I swear this world is getting gayer every day. First off .......men wear down jackets, ..........they don't "run fitted puffys". Second.......if you've been on this planet for 20 October's and don't know how to dress, hunting isn't for you. 3rd........rokslide's banner should be a QBLT pride flag. If one of the kuius put a label on a pink xxxxx hat, the new crowd would stand in line to get em, and pay $300 for it. This toxic femininity will be the end of us.

If what a guy wears angers you this much, I'd hate to see how you handle life. But I'm sure the op appreciates your helpful opinion on what to wear.

Good looking gloves, but for that price I would think they should be gortex or similar material. I'd hate to lose 1 in the woods I suspect these work better than goretex

Good looking gloves, but for that price I would think they should be gortex or similar material. I should have listened to you. I wish I wouldn't have bought the Kuiu Super Down Pro Glassing Glomitt gloves. They aren't very good. They're noisy & they don't seem to keep my hands any warmer than cheaper gloves. They're bulky & really hard to maneuver a bow release with. The biggest issue might be that they don't fit tight around the wrist, letting cold air in. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I wouldn't recommend them. Save your $ folks.
