Hey guys, I’ve had experience trapping otter in ponds, lakes, and small streams, but I’m wondering if there is any truly effective way to trap them off a river? Normally I find crossovers from pond to pond, or old beaver channels and houses, but this isn’t an option at the place I’ll be trapping in the winter.I was told things like pocket sets and bottom edge sets might work, but I think they would either get plugged with raccoons, or would not be effective at all. Do I have any other options? Thanks!!

If there's any bends in the river, look for short cuts overland cutting the bend off.

Toilets are sure-fire sets, when you find them.

Just doing what I want now.

Fish stick sets seem very effective here.

Any small streams that enter the river will be good. If there is a pond or lake along the river there will be a crossover or trail to it. The otter float that is being discussed in another thread works well in some locations along rivers also.
