It is both illegal and apparently immoral to sit on your boat and drink a beer anywhere in Canada. However, I know for a fact that many of the Canucks that work in the nuclear industry on components for their reactors smoke pot daily and arrive at work high as a kite. In Canada, they do not get tested for this even if they are suspected of being under the influence. I just figured I would bring it up since we Americans are so morally bankrupt. Let's see, have a beer on a boat and be prosecuted or show up high at work, make a huge error and take out a few hundred square miles in a nuclear meltdown. Yup, seems like Canuck logic at it's finest. ,

I know a guy who got charged with impaired driving while mowing his lawn with a beer cause he drove down the shoulder lol as a canaidian i can tell you there is as many if not more guys here drinking while fishing and hunting as in the states. Personally i dont drink at any time. But far be it from me to judge a fella trolling down the river cause hes got a beer in his hand. If its a bunch of lunatics flying around in a jet boat loaded that would be somthing else and i think amercans and canaidians would both agree thats trouble. As for pot, i dont think theres anything i hate more than pot smokeres. (Anyways your yankee beer dosnt have an alcohol content does it? Lol)

Operating powered machines while under the influence and which can result in highway or waterway victimization hasn't been legal or socially acceptable in a very long time here. True, having "a beer" isn't going to kill anyone but it's likely that boasting about having a dozen to drink during an afternoon on the water and with the assumption that you have to drive home will get you some finger pointing not accolades. Pot smoking before or during work is relatively common in the trades but I'd like to think it'd be an anomaly in high responsibility positions in the nuclear industry.

Reported to who? The other guy smoking pot? They cannot be tested so how are you going to prove it? It's either a specific law up there or a union contract, I'm not sure which, maybe both.

That's why it's good to take a tea toteler along, they don't drink your beer and he's the driver of a nosey warden comes by.

If its morally wrong to have a beer in a boat, I don’t know a single moral adult boater. I also cannot comment on the nuclear industry because I do not know for a fact that many people show up high as a kite.

I think showing up for work high and the boat driver boating drunk are equally bad.

In fact, I have been in the Nuclear industry going on 16 years now and I have worked with people all over the world in the United States. People from Mexico, France, India, England even Russia. In the states, you are tested at every plant. Even in states where they have legalized pot. If you are positive, as a contractor, you are out for 5 years the first time and gone for good the second time. With all that said, I have never seen or worked with a Canuck down here in the states. They stay in Canada. Not saying they all smoke pot and none of them come to the states but I've never seen one in 16 years.
