Last year I bought a auger from a dealer at the MN trappers convention. I am looking for something better. This one wore out, but it did take a beating with some of the rocky areas. What do you suggest for a vendor that has a really good 2" auger?

I watched a vid recently that the guy looked like he was using a strut spring fashioned on a drill...looked sweet, just haven't had time to do any r/d.

Papio Creek Trapping Supply outside of Omaha has some very good drill bits. He is a union welder during the day and can make one if you want something beyond extra heavy duty. He has several uTube videos showing his products and I have had good luck with them (I am not the most careful or selective when I use gear).

How big of a hole are you making? I got a 2" old time wood bit and you could never wear It out.

Old time wood bit is the way to go.
I have 2 sizes I use & with the rocky areas we have out here are no match for them.
If anybody is wondering bout the 2 sizes sometimes in the rocks the bigger one hits em & it makes a 2 inchish hole to 4 as it pulls the rocks out so I use the smaller 5/8 inch to make the 2 inch hole.. sounds odd but somehow it works.

Ya can't miss fur if yur traps are out somewhere.
Or so I've been told.

I bought a 3" last year and I am going to a 2" this year. I also have a few long wood auger bits in 3/4" dia. I used those after freezeup last year when I wore out my 3"
