Im hoping to try some connibear blind sets. Wisconsin regulations can be confusing, but what I take from it to run 220's i have to follow this as a regulation. Figuring the trap is in the middle on a stablizer

That's what you have to do. So here Is a little trick you can do. Since the opening can only be 10x10 I always felt that you were forcing a coon into a tight spot. So I built my cages 12" high and 10" wide. Then I wired a 2" piece of wire across the bottom of the opening. This made opening 10X10 again and It was legal. The coon would just step over the 2" strip and walk right In. It just made It easier for the coon and I figured I got less refusals.

Thanks a bunch.

I would place the 4" strip on the bottom. I feel It's easier to step over something then It Is to duck under. But try It both ways and see what works the best.

Here is another question regarding 220’s on land here NY. Maximum opening of only 6”. Like but what Beav said but I want wood. Free pine. 10” height with 2” top and bottom? You'll have better luck with the wire vs wood in my experience.

I'm assuming your talking about TRAIL sets right. 2 things you can do to improve your catch rate with 160s 1- Keep them at least 4" off the ground and fill In the open space under the trap.
2- Go out and get some page wire fencing the older the better. It just blends In better. You want to cut them so you end up with piece of wire that when you bend them they will take on the shape of a covered wagon top. With the trap about 4" off the ground the cage will sit about 3" higher then the top of the trap and several inches wider then the trap and about 24" In length.
Place them over your stabilized traps. It's best to drive at bar stake through it so It can't be pushed up. This same stake can be used to anchor your trap. This Is a coon killing set up, once the coon is committed to the cage It's not going to back up. Don't try and camouflage It they just blend I with out any grass covering. They are a pain In the butt to haul and store but they will up your 160 catch rate.

The 220s work better and since no one really uses them In WI any more you should be able to find some cheap ones. But If you got 160s give them a try.

I was against 160's until I started using them. Any coon will force himself through a 160.... and he's done....right around the neck. and making a box smaller is easy. Just add a few furring strips.
Just a weekend trapper...

Hey 080808, those 155's will be great.... for skunks, possums, dinky coons, rabbits, squirrels,,, etc... you'll have lots of action.
