This what you looking for? Long story but will try to make it short. My 19 yrs. old Son is an avid coon hunter and is dog sitting a hound for a friend. The dog he is taking care of was recently purchased for $20k and has won $30k in the last 3 months. The owners also gave him permission to hunt this dog while he keeps her for a week. Wednesday night, this dog chased a coon up a 14 inch drain tile what ended up being 500 yards from the creek and in the middle of my bean field. So in the middle of the night, we finally figured out where the subterranean critter was and we dug her out with a backhoe, 6 foot down in the main tile drain for my farm, 500 yards from the tile entrance. The dog is fine and ready to hunt. My Son contacted the owner during this ordeal and he said, "what ever it takes, we will pay any bill to save her." So we trampled a good 1/4 mile of beans driving in and out, dug and trampled a 50 foot circle of beans, had to repair 8 foot of drain tile, 6 hours of backhoe time and 8 hours of my time. Don't want to be a - but I told my boy, "Someone needs to make me whole". What's it worth and who needs to pay? Obviously not going to take money from my Son and the ones who own the animal have the deep pockets to pay for damages. They gave him permission to work the dog. I know - happens but I am not taking it in the rear on this one. Tired of being the nice guy. INDY

It's quite a story. I understand the farmer not wanting to take the loss, but it was his son that let the dog get into that predicament. I really don't know what I think about it, lol.

This happens more often than you might think. Happened several times to me. Worst time I had 2 pups in a hollow tree. Little bitty hole right at the ground. One was my youngest daughter's male she showed. She was crying, I thought I was gonna have to go home and get some grease lol. I don't know how they got in there, but I finally laid down, stuck my arm in to the shoulder and waited till I felt a foot. Got both hind legs, folded the tail down and worked em out backwards. They were a little skinned up, but at least they went home that night

If you're taking care of a $20k dog, keep that in the living rm, and don't let it leave your sight!
Act like a blank, get treated like a blank. Insert your own blank!

Why in the world would you hunt a 20k dog that does not belong to you? Why in the world would you give someone else permission to hunt your 20k dog? These competition dogs need to be hunted. If the dog won 30G's in three months , I'll bet he was hunted at least 4 nights a week.the kid was probably getting paid to hunt it.

Would be a game changer $$$$$ !
