Quail, dove, rabbit, squirrel, frog legs. Really depends on what's in season as to what I enjoy eating lol. It's all good fried in hot grease with grease dripping gravy and mashed taters!

For you squirrel folks what is your preferred way to prepare?

I like grouse and ring necks but have plenty of squirrel areas to hunt to, just never did much.

Dipped in buttermilk, floured and fried. The key to really good fried squirrel is keeping the young ones and giving the old ones to your hunting buddies.

I’ve never heard of a Canadian that eats squirrel. I’m sure there are a couple, but I think it’s an American thing.

Fat as a tick caribou or reindeer. Not a rutting bull. Followed by whitetail and wild hog and alligator.

We just have the pine/red squirrel here, takes 13 of 'em just to make a dozen

Can’t really compare. Even prepared with a good recipe it’s all delicious and has its place and time. If spoiled or prepared poorly the best cut can be sawdust

Yep, had it often. In my opinion dove and pigeon are way better. Have you tried either?

Eh...wot?

I like to keep it simple with squirrel. I par-boil until falling-off-the-bone tender then a quick browning in butter on hot cast iron.

A pressure cooker should work good to take the place of par-boiling according to what I've read here on Tman. I don't have one...yet.

Eh...wot?
