I have this big bear coming into my yard at my camp in southern NY. Is there a way to judge what this bear weighs? Anyone with extensive bear hunting experience want to make a guess? I have added a head-on shot. Same bear. Sorry for the distortion but he was about two feet from the trail cam.

I’d say that is close, the almost part.

The full body shots look big the head on shot says small. I'm looking for a photo of a big head.

That bear is a tank. No question about it. My guess would be 450 or better. Whenever a bears legs look short like that you are looking at a big bear. Smaller bears have a lanky long legged look.

Maybe. He did say the bear is only 2’ from the camera. Paws look small, long pointy nose, long pointy ears, that usually means small bear.
But pics are hard to tell.

Two characteristics that will help you determine if a bear is reaching the 400 lb category: torso will appear as though it's barely clearing the ground and with a frontal view it'll seem like you can park a Volkswagen between it's front legs/paws. This bear shows neither of those characteristics and also lacks the pumpkin head which causes the small looking ear effect. Nice bear! but I'm leaning to the high 200s.

Nope, that bear is a lot bigger than black bears get in the Yukon and we get the occasional 300 pound black bear. I've taken big grizzlies that would go well over 700 with small heads and smaller bears with big heads.

I agree with Dahlgren, looks like 2 different bears. One is big and the other is little.
